About the association

A governing body,
not a tournament.

As one of the pioneering governing bodies for high school esports, PIEA provides oversight, regulatory structure, and a full competitive program to over 200 high schools across Pennsylvania.

That structure is what gives administrators, parents, and community leaders confidence: published eligibility rules, refereed competition, conduct enforcement, skill-based divisions, and an officially recognized state championship. We run a complete regular season, conference postseason, and championship finals every fall and spring.

Our vision

Career readiness,
through competition.

To provide career readiness and job opportunities to future generations through the competitive and structured environment of high school esports.

Our mission

Offer a competitive esports regular season, playoffs, and State Championships that prepare students for success in their careers and personal development — building a minor league system for esports on a three-pronged approach:

  • Technology — the platform, brackets, and broadcast stack
  • Education — 18-week curriculum and paid student internships
  • Community — rivalries, LAN events, and school pride

How a season
works

Six steps
1 · Register

Your school joins as a member and selects which titles and divisions to field teams in.

2 · Placement

Teams are placed into skill-based divisions and a regional conference for weekly play.

3 · Regular season

Weekly refereed matches on a published schedule, with results and standings tracked live.

4 · Conference postseason

Conference brackets seed from regular-season record and run to a local final.

5 · In-person finals

Conference finals are played on-site at a host venue and produced on broadcast.

6 · State Championship

The grand finals weekend — played live at a LAN event for the state title.
